Can anyone help me with advertising to promote a new business?

I am looking for some ways to get clients for my new party planning business.

1. I agree with moneycrazyego's answer. Good luck. Do you have a web page? If so whenever you e-mail anybody include a link to it. I hope you do well with your business.
2. Hey Jennifer, If you dont include catering in your event planning business right now, you should hook up with a good caterer. Also, see if you can cross-promote/market with balloon people, party stores, costume shops, bakeries, etc. Try to build a team of contacts so that you can recommend them and either get a commission or have them recommend you. For instance, having a casino night is popular. Find the people who rent the gaming tables and supply the dealers. Even if you dont plan the event for someone, if you can recommend the right person, you are building trust and future business down the line. Become the Go-To Person for people with party/event questions. I think the idea of throwing a party/event is great, but make sure the people you invite are people who put together parties for companies or for whatever segment of the market that you are targeting. Planning an event for a corporation is going to be a lot different than planning a six year olds birthday party which is going to be different from throwing a swanky engagement party. Think about your target market and plan from there. Also, think about putting together a little free report (Ten Tips to Make Your Party/Event A Success) and offer it in your ads and on your website. Capture the names, addresses, phone numbers and email of anyone who requests that report and market to your list on a regular basis. You may not get the client the first time out. Most sales are made in the third to seventh contact so make sure you are contacting prospects at least seven times. I like to contact every other month at a minimum.
