Business Starting Grants

Where can I find investors to finance my small business?

What if you didn't have much money, but a great idea! Would someone actually help? How does that work? Is this even a possibility? Thank you!

  1. you can really find them anywhere. newspaper, banks, online. im convinced that there are always people that are willing to fund you for stupid ideas and such but you really need to check up on investing first. investors dont usually jsut fund a business to help you. you have to be able to prove your potential projected project margins for the next year adn the next few years. when they finance you it would be for a percentage of the profits of the business, usually a high figure if its a rather stupid idea, prob something less if its in electronics or something potential. another thing they could do is a loan note. this would give them a percentage of the company say a high percentage of like 30%. there are usually conditions in which the loan has to be repaid, the equity in the business then goes down to something liek 10 or 15%. this is safer for you if you business can actually produce, the bad side is if the business goes under they can put a lean on your house, and hire someone to collect the money. find someone you know who is rich, like a relative.
  2. Good ideas are essential, but there are definitely a lot out there. Professional investors give money to not necessarily to the originator if an idea, but the person with vision determination, connections, knowledge, contacts to turn the idea into a real company with real returns. As a start-up, unless you are in an industry that is extremely hot (hi tech, biotech ,etc) and you are able to schedule a pitch to one of these investors, you will want to try to tap the best source of start up capital: friends and family. The ultimate first found "angel investors" . You should ideally create a comprehensive business plan, have a team committed to the project in mind ideally with experience in the industry or a related one, why the idea is viable and how exactly it will be executed step by step, funding, financial projections and a presentation.
