How do I advertise my new business if I don't know anyone?

I recently moved to a new area and have started an errand running business. I have posted flyers in local businesses and put an ad in the local newspaper for the past few weeks. I havn't recieved one phone call yet though. I have heard that the best form of advertisement is word of mouth, but how do I get recommendations if I dont have customers who can tell others about my business? I don't have family or friends in the area either since I just moved. Any ideas?

  1. Local chamber of commerce. Facebook, LinkedIn. Flyers. Business cards. Local message boards. TONS of choices for cheap or free. Offer a free trial to build up clientèle. Then offer free services with referrals.
  2. Some areas are Old boy or girl Anal retentive if you know what I mean . I don't know where you moved but. Some places are hard to get anyone to buy from you. because they go for people that have been there for their whole lives.
  3. whats your business? and where did you move to? with a little info people can help you...
  4. make some business cards and leave them on people's car windows or mailboxes. also you could leave bulletins like at a laundry place.
  5. Go to all Free Social Media website there you can advertise your business and share your business in all video sharing sites it will help you a lot.
  6. Hello, Here are a few ideas that might help you. 1. Have a decal on your rear window with your business information. (It works really well. I have done that and I received a lot of customers from it) 2. A simple t-shirt with your business information. (wear it when you go shopping and run your errands and people will notice you) 3. You said its a errand running business. You can try to contact your intended customers. (example elderly = nursing homes) Place fliers and try to talk face to face with people there or wherever your targeted customers are at. I hope I made sense, and I hope it helps. Good luck and don't give up. It can be discouraging at times to get your business going.
