How do I achieve best marketing and sales as cost effectively as possible for my new business?

My daughter and I have just started a new housecleaning business for Southeast Wisconsin. We are trying to market ourselves with flyers and business cards. Please send any tips that you have found effective.

1. Just let your business be known it will be slow and hard at first but once you do a few jobs word will get around....just have flyers everywhere! I dont find the newspaper is worth it- for the money you put out the calls just dont seem to come in...also tell everyone about the bussiness, when your doing your hair tell them and buddy next to you will hear that to- make sure all your friends know- maybe throw a sale for first time people!! Most important just get your name out there however you can
