- Hey Softail, To find out the value of your business - act like you are trying to buy one! It's just like trying to buy a house -- you check out what the other houses in the area are selling for and then you adjust your price accordingly. Most business brokers can assist you with this one. They will actually (like a Realtor) try to get you to sign up with them - but they're in it for commission only. Keep in mind: What were your sales; This year, Last year, Average last 5 years? What were your Net Profits; This year, Last year, Average last 5 years? What equipment and assets do you own? How much money would it cost you TODAY to open the same business? What is your GOODWILL worth? (Goodwill are the customers that will stay with your business - Sometimes that can account for many times what the business is actually worth!). Who to sell it to? 1). Your customers! They are the ones that will have a vested interest in keeping the quality up and the prices fair, 2). Your competition! They want you out of the business! They will also know what the fairest price for your business will be. Good luck! James in San Diego
- I don't think asking in Beer, Wine & Spirit section is going to help... Why don't you ask your accountant to start...
- Best avenue? Hmmm, how about 5th Avenue.
