How can i get money for a small business start-up without borrowing?

I contacted my local congress office, on how to go about obtaining a grant for a business start-up. They sent me out information&contact numbers that were far from what i'm looking for. i do not want to borrowing money nor do i want someone or company to become partner in my business! I just would like to know if there are organizations out there to help an indivual person start up a business? an also are there really grant programs out there? if so why is the government being so hush hush about it?

1. Check out http://www.sba.gov it's to the Small Business Administration. The offer grants or links to grants. Just create a business plan before applying for a grant. The business plan is basically your resume and collateral. So make sure it's good or you wont get anything. You can also find investors that are willing to give you money for a stake in the company. You might be able to buy them out one day. But again you will need a great business plan.

3. Hi again! I hope this website helps you too.. under business resources there is a grant link. I was thinking about joining myself but there is a yearly membership fee. What type of home business are you thinking about starting?
