Business Starting Grants

I would like to start a small business and would like to know where I can find grants to start a business?

PLEASE SOME ONE OUT THERE HELP ME! I am very serious about starting a small business and would like to know where I can get a grant that would help me with a small business grant. I thank you so much for your help I feel that this venture that I have been trying to get started for so long will help better my life as well as other that I will help when I start my business. 1. I hear that there are "billions of dollars, for people like you.." all over the internet, and there are countless books about this subject. I have heard that it's all a scam though. Ultimately I believe there is money out there, but don't buy ANY of that junk on the internet, because the "secrets" they tell you are not secrets at all, and they are also worthless. You could try a business loan from a bank, or try talking to the BBB to see if there are any legitimate ways to get money that they know of. The BBB doesn't lend or give money of course, but they will know about who is scamming since people complain. Good luck.
2. start with the SBDC - the Small Business Development Center - just search online for the office nearest to you. It's a real pain to apply for grants, and very hard to actually qualify for one - I've just gone thru the process myself, and have just had to go for a loan. Check with your city or town to see if you are zoned in the TIFF district - the TIFF fund is an amount of money the city sets aside to give to businesses, since you will in turn be helping the city by doing business there. You can also look for "Angel Donors" - basically they are rich, retired businesspeople who might see potential in your business and invest money into it - these people will generally want to be a partner, or at least have an agreement where they make something back out of it. If you live near a college, look into their Small Business Department - alot of them offer free seminars and will help you write your business plan and grant applications
